Introducing Saidef SA
Located in the canton of Fribourg, the Saidef plant has a capacity of 15'000 t.p.a. of slag treatment. Saidef owns and operates since 2016 the 1.0 version of the SELFRAG slag process.
Operational since 2001, SAIDEF's facility disposes of and recycles the waste from the municipalities within its catchment area. In 2006, the canton equipped itself with a plant for the treatment of sewage sludge. Discover all the Centros ›
Pioneering IBA treatment
The shareholders consist of the municipalities of Fribourg and the Broye region in Vaud, as well as the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud, and the Groupe E. This broad regional ownership structure ensures alignment with public waste management priorities.
The Saidef partnership was SELFRAG's first industrial-scale deployment, providing operational validation that laid the foundation for Centro Uno and Centro Due. Learn more about the technology ›
Environmental impact
Saidef processes 15'000 tonnes of IBA per year and avoids approximately 7'500 tonnes of CO2 annually. The recovered metals and minerals re-enter the Swiss material cycle, contributing to a functional circular economy.
