“WASTE TO VALUE” IS OUR COMMITMENT
We know we only have one planet. We therefore relentlessly work on transforming waste to value by:
- Improving recycling and recovery rates
- Reducing the CO2 impact on our planet
- Closing the gap to a functioning circular economy
Our value proposition
SELFRAG’s unique technology and process allows the unprecedented recovery of at least 50% of the slag treated. The volume to be landfilled will so be reduced by 50% and at the same time valuable metals and minerals will be recovered and so reintroduced into the economic cycle.
Our business model
We develop, construct, finance, own and operate WASTE TO VALUE (W-t-V) plants.
Our plan
Focus on Switzerland
Company focus on the Swiss IBA market with a robust pipeline across the country.
SELFRAG plans to roll-out at least 5-7 recycling plants in Switzerland in the next 5 years – treating 400 000 tons of IBA per year.
International market development
SELFRAG is currently assessing the roll-out of recycling plants around the globe – discussions are on-going in the US in Scandinavia.
our partners
Incinerators
We enter into long-term slag (incinerated bottom ash) contracts with waste-to-energy plants (incinerators) to treat the slag generated in the incineration process. Our solution allows for a transformation of at least 50% of the slag into valuable materials (metals and minerals).
Financing
We have financing arrangements with Swiss Life (Fontavis) securing the financing of 8 W-t-V plants in Switzerland. Our Centro Uno plant has received the financial backing of Credit Suisse, Swiss Life and the Selfrag core investors. Selfrag has in addition the banking support of UBS.
Metals and minerals
SELFRAG has developed a network of metal companies (traders and smelters) to sell the metals recovered out of its W-t-V plants. Pursuant to exclusive agreements, SELFRAG is developing the products out of the minerals recovered in its W-t-V plants.
CO2
SELFRAG has entered into agreements with South Pole – a leading climate advisory company – to certify and trade the CO2 credits generated by its W-t-V plants.
Science
SELFRAG collaborates with various universities and research centres for the development of its technologies. In the contest of the further development of its W-t-V technology, SELFRAG has signed a collaboration and research agreement with the University of Applied Sciences of North-western Switzerland (FHNW).
Technology
SELFRAG counts on the cooperation with several specialized engineering and construction companies for the development and construction of its W-t-V plants. They include ASE Technik, ROWA Tunnel Logistics, AIK Technik, Dober Engineering and Erne.

A mix of conventional and innovative technologies to recover values.

We are growing
Our first SELFRAG slag treatment plant "Centro Uno" in Full-Reuenthal (AG) is in operation since March 2023.
"Centro Due" is planned in Kerzers (FR) , close to SELFRAG's existing premises and shall be in operation 2025.
