First IBA delivery at Centro Uno

At 7.40am on March 7, 2023, Selfrag's incinerator bottom ash (IBA) treatment facility, in Full-Reuenthal, Switzerland, received its first delivery of IBA for treatment. The shipment of 26,990 kilograms (26.9 tons) of IBA from KVA Turgi was a welcomed milestone for the team at Selfrag, as the plant is set to become operational in the coming days on the 17th of March 2023.

Selfrag's new treatment facility uses patented technology to upcycle valuable resources from IBA, such as metals and minerals, in an environmentally friendly way. The 'waste to value' process not only helps to reduce IBA ending up in landfills around Switzerland by 50%. It also contributes to the circular economy by conserving important resources such as scarce metals and allowing these materials to re-enter the economy.
